I went to bed pretty early that night, though I wasn’t tired. I snuggled under the covers, and I was fast asleep. I woke up the next morning cozy and warm and not willing to get up so soon. I reluctantly got up anyway, knowing I would have to get up sooner or later. I walked downstairs, still trying to rub the tired out of my eyes.

“Good morning, Alice,” Liam smiled. “Want anything special for breakfast?”

“I’ll just get myself some cereal, thanks,” I replied, shuffling through the cabinets. I found a box of Honey Bunches of Oats. Sweet. I poured myself a bowl and commenced to munching. Kain came downstairs a few minutes after I started eating, and I tried not to snort my cereal when I saw his hair. He gave me a look. I couldn’t help myself; I was literally on the floor laughing my ass off. His hair looked like he slept upside-down, and he had numerous cowlicks.

“Okay,” he said, annoyed, picking me up off the floor, “enough about my hair.”

“Sorry, sorry,” I managed to gasp out, wiping tears from my eyes. “It’s just you always have such straight hair…”

“Yeah, whatever. Just finish your breakfast. We need to discuss some things today. A lot of things.”

I finished my Honey Bunches of Oats, and I followed the guys downstairs into a room with three luxurious black leather and solid oak arm chairs. I sat in the one that was facing the other two, and they sat in the other chairs.

“So, what is it that you want to discuss?” I asked them.

“We just wanted to explain a few things that might have confused you,” Kain explained. “I’ll let Liam take it over from here; I’ve never been one to explain things…”

“Okay, so you remember yesterday when Kain started talking to your mom?” Liam asked me. I nodded. “Well, all vampires have a special ability to lure their prey in. It’s also quite useful to persuade people to do things, too.

“We all also have another trait, though this one varies from person to person. Take me, for instance. I don’t exactly see into the future, but I get these gut feelings, if you will, that tell me which path is the best.”

I suddenly had an idea. “So is this why you guys knew where to find me?”

“Yeah,” Kain replied, “and because the smell of your blood. It draws us like moths to a flame.”

“But Kain, here,” Liam continued, “his ‘charm’ is many, many times stronger than any other vampire.”

Kain laughed. “It’s perfect. I can seduce any woman I want. And guys, too, if they’re gay.” I laughed. “I can also force them to do anything I want them to.” He rose from his chair, sauntered over to me, leaned over, and looked me straight in the eye. My vision became fuzzy again. “Let me have a little drink,” he demanded in his smoothest, most seductive voice.  My body responded to his command, and I brushed the hair off my neck. He leaned over a little farther and kissed my neck. “See? It’s just that easy.” He walked back over to his chair and sat down. My face turned red again.

“And what about all the vampire stuff?” I asked. “Like crosses, garlic, burning in the sunlight, and stuff like that?”

“Oh.” Liam laughed. “Holy water and crosses are completely useless. Garlic doesn’t do anything, either. Contrary to popular belief, we can actually eat food. And the whole sunlight thing? We can go outside on cloudy days, but we can burn if we get caught in the sun. We can die from prolonged exposure to sunlight, but it, for the most part, looks like a sunburn. And you’ve obviously seen we don’t sleep in coffins. Oh, and fire is definitely lethal to us.”

Another though occurred to me. “What am I going to do about school?” The guys looked at each other, and Liam answered.

“Well,” he said slowly, “I suppose we could home school you… We could teach you way more than school can.”

“What?” I demanded. “You can’t keep me from my friends. It’s… It’s… inhumane!”

“Well, in that case,” Kain stood up and walked over to me again, “I’ll just have to make you want to be home schooled.” He used his charm to force me to agree to home schooling. Damn handsome vampire.

I stormed upstairs and slammed my door. I called Stacy to vent.

“Hello? Alice?” she answered.

“Hey,” I replied. “I, uh, won’t be going to school anymore.”

“WHAT?!” What a happy reply.

I thought off the top of my head. “Mom wants me to be home schooled. Weird, right? I think she thinks I’m not learning enough at school.”

“That’s bullcrap, and we both know it, Alice! I’m coming over there right now!”

I panicked. “No! You can’t!”

“Why?”

“Mom’s really sick right now. It’s really contagious.” I was definitely grasping at straws now.

“Okay.” She sounded apprehensive. “But you’d better tell me when she gets better so I can talk some sense into her.”

“I’ll try to remember that. I’ll talk to you later, Stace.”

“Yeah, see you.” She hung up. I sighed. I hated lying to the people closest to me. I curled up into a ball on my bed. How could I let this happen to myself?

My door opened, but I didn’t pay attention to who it was.

“Alice?” It was Liam. “Is there anything special you’d like me to make for dinner tonight?”

I thought for a minute. “Um… I really want…--” I didn’t finish my sentence. We both heard a loud crashing sound from downstairs. We looked at each other, and ran downstairs to investigate.
Heh..... Kidnapped, chapter 3.

I'll type up ch. 4 later...
